THE PNWBA 25TH ANNIVERSARY
KICK-OFF AT THE CLEARWATER
November 12-13

Awards, competitions, classes, fun, your friends and more! It's all set for the second weekend of November at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort, near Poulsbo, Washington. Traditionally, we gather for an Annual Membership Meeting but since we are kicking off our 25th Anniversary, we decided to pull out all the stops for our members.

This is an Active Membership Event. EVERYTHING has been discounted for you. So, to first check your membership status or update it, visit here for instructions on how to log in and check. You can also pay/renew your membership here.  Free membership or lapsed memberships will be ineligible to participate in the event.

To register for individual events, you must log into this website with your membership account first. Please do so, below by October 15th! Again, registrations will be accepted from current, active MEMBERS. Below is a brief rundown of our agenda. Additional details will follow but we do need your registrations in no later than Friday, October 15th!

Soon after you have registered, below, you'll be given a code number so you can reserve your hotel room for Friday and Saturday at the greatly discounted rate of $99 per night (plus the usual taxes). Should you opt to stay the weekend on site in your RV, those rates are only $35 per night with complete hook-ups and are open for reservations now via www.clearwatercasino.com (Staying in your comp site, unless in a registered RV, is not allowed on Sat night after the competition.)

Friday, Nov 12 - Saturday, Nov 13: Two BBQ Competitions!

2021 PNWBA Annual Championship: Eligible to compete - Those teams that have earned a PNWBA Grand Championship in the past year.

Registration: $195

The PNWBA 25th Anniversary Kick-Off OPEN Competition: Eligible to compete - All other member teams. You won't be competing against the championship comp teams and they won't be competing against you. "Everybody walks!"

Registration: $195

Both competitions will be four-meat events with load-ins all day Friday and turn-ins, in PNWBA order, at 12:30, 1:00, 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Prize purses are yet to be totaled.

Friday, Noon - 4:00 p.m.: Backyard Gourmet BBQ Class with HARRY SOO:

Long-time PNWBA member, the originator of grand championship team Slap Yo Daddy BBQ, maker of a superb line of award winning rubs and sauces and one of America's most experienced BBQ instructors, Harry Soo will deliver a custom designed class for our members including tips and techniques for competitors and lots of information and demonstrations any cook can use at home. You won't want to miss it! Normally, Harry's classes run in the hundreds of dollars but as a PNWBA membership benefit...

Registration: $35

Friday, 6:00 p.m.: Competition Cooks' Meeting

Saturday, Nov 13, 7:30 a.m. - Noon: Our Inaugural (Finally!) Advanced Judging Workshop: The class designed to up your game as an experience PNWBA CBJ, covering everything from BBQ History to Comment Card Communications, A Broader View of BBQ Flavors, Close Encounters of the Head Judge Kind and MORE! And we'll start off with breakfast.

Registration: $45

Saturday, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.: Annual PNWBA Membership Meeting. Annual reports looking backwards and forwards plus an opportunity for us to hear the voices of our members. Also, a special drawing for members present to win! (Did we mention the no-host bar opens at 3:30?)

Saturday, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.: Social Hour

Saturday, 6:00 p.m. Annual Awards Banquet

Along with a wonderful Buffet Dinner, we'll present Awards for today's two competitions

Then it's right into the always-fun Dessert Auction to benefit our Feed the Troops operation

And we'll wrap up the evening with our Annual Awards including everything from Judge of the Year to the year's top pork

competitor...all the usual including our newest inductions to the PNWBA Hall of Fame.

Yes. If you are a member in good standing, your family members may also be registered to participate, at the same rate, for Harry's class and the Awards Banquet.

FYI Earlier that same week, a group of PNWBA members will be cooking one of our Feed the Troops events which actually is to be the Nov 11th, Veteran's Day Free BBQ Buffet for any veterans, hosted by the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort. JD McGee will be handling that project. (We already have a large group working that event.)

Our Head Judges for the two competitions will be Lance Rasmussen and Steve Rubin. They will issue a call for judges, soon.

The competitions, including load-ins, will be handled by Eric Mendel. He'll have more details for you soon but note, you CAN load-in Friday morning and still attend Harry Soo's class at Noon or load in throughout the afternoon. The competition will be held in the excellent facilities of the Clearwater's RV Park on the site of our old competitions there, now fully paved with 60 foot long, 18 ft wide RV stalls, each equipped with water, electricity, Wi-Fi and sewer. We'll site two teams per stall. So, your footprint can be as large as 30X18.

Your Board of Directors takes your comfort and safety seriously. They examined the social distancing, masking, etc in place at the Clearwater and decided whatever the Clearwater implements, at the direction of the state and county, the PNWBA will abide by. The staff there is arranging our seating and other factors with COVID precautions in mind. We highly advise vaccinations. We will be masked when gathered (Except for eating or drinking). We want every one of our members to emerge as healthy as they arrived!
