The Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of barbecue in the Northwest.The PNWBA is committed to educating the public in the furtherance and development of authentic barbecue knowledge through cooking classes, judging classes, and competition barbecue cooking events. Our organization is managed by a Board of Directors who are made up completely with volunteers.

    Safety Requirements:

    For safety, the following requirements must be followed:
    Masks – There is currently no mask requirement outdoors in this area, however masks may be required indoors.

    Team Requirements:

    Please view the Cook Rules located here. Each site will be inspected to meet these requirements. If you are a new to competition BBQ team or new to PNWBA competitions, we recommend visiting our New Team Info page..

    Entry Fee:

    Entry fee is $200.00 USD. A designated amount of $15.00 from the entry fee is non-refundable to cover payment and event processing expenses. In the event of a cancellation by the event coordinator, $185.00 will be refunded from the entrants payment.

    Sampling:

    There is sampling opportunities available for Friday through Sunday - Contact the organizer directly for details and requirements. The split is 80/20, making it nice for teams to recoup event expenses.

    We are looking for the following:

    •  Judges. Judges will be selected with preference for PNWBA current paid members certified as PNWBA BBQ Judges. Should there still be openings, PNWBA CBJ's with lapsed membership will be used, then KCBS certified BBQ judges will be used.

    • Table Captains. Preference will be to PNWBA current paid members certified as Table Captains.

    • Volunteers, i.e. Food Runners, Meat Wranglers, and general helpers.

    Due to the fluid nature of this event, signing up does not guarantee a judging spot. Please be willing to volunteer as needed.

    Waitlist:

    Please sign up for the waitlist if initial spots are full. We had to use several folks from the waitlist at our last event. Preference is always given to PNWBA members with current paid membership.

    All judges and other helpers will be assigned positions at the venue. If you select ONLY to be a seated eating judge, it is not guaranteed. The head judges will make the final assessment of volunteers and choose the seated judges. Tables will also be adjusted at the event to try and even out the judge levels and experience.

    Safety Requirements:

    For safety, the following requirements must be followed:

    Masks – Currently, masks are not required outdoors in this jurisdiction, but may be required indoors (we will be judging outdoors).  Local and State regulations in place at the time of the event will take precedence. Masks, when used, must cover nose and mouth.

    • Judges - Masks, if worn, may be removed when judging the taste and texture phase of each entry.

    • Table Captains and other volunteers - Masks are required at all times when serving meat.

    WAYNE Fettback Back Yard BBQ (Covid Q) CHARITY EVENT IN LANGLEY, BC

    Event Date: JUY 10th, 2021

    Limited to 15 Teams, with each team staffed with no more than 2 people. After 15 teams, additional will be waitlisted. Waitlisted teams will be accepted if there is a cancellation.

    This is a fully sanctioned 1-day lite cook.

    It is suggested that you have at least had your first covid vaccination prior to the event.

    2021 Feed The Troops - Fairchild Airforce Base - Spokane, WA

    Calling for volunteers and cooks to help with the 2021 Feed the Troops event at Fairchild AFB on July 17th, with setup on July 16.

    Needed:

    • Cooks with large smokers
    • Volunteers to help load in and setup Friday afternoon
    • Volunteers to help prep and rub ribs and pork shoulder Friday late afternoon and early evening.
    • Cooks to cook the meats and beans
    • Volunteers to help prep cole slaw and other fixings.
    • Volunteers to help serve food to the airman and their families Saturday late morning through early afternoon.
    • Volunteers to help take down and load out Saturday afternoon. (Highly needed because in past, there has been less help in this very important task)

    You will need to complete the form here which contains some covid questions and return a copy of your enhanced ID or copy of SS Certificate or passport to Leroy Payne at lapdip@hotmail.com. If you have a military ID, please also send a copy. The information must be sent by July 6 in order for the base to do clearance check.

      • "Put This On The Menu" - Create a signature appetizer, entrée or dessert that you'd like to see on Famous Dave's. Winning dish to be considered to feature at the local Famous Dave's store or potentially other stores. Remember to consider the types of ingredients that Famous Dave's uses in their stores and would readily have access too. For example, a Caviar BBQ Burger would not make a good choice due to Caviar not being a mainstream item for the store.

      Note: Meat will be provided for the Chicken, Pork Ribs and Brisket categories. Each Team will get 1 brisket, 3 racks pork ribs and 8 chicken drumsticks to cook.
