Approve minutes - Steve
Motion to approve the minutes from the August call-in meeting was approved. Steve will post the August Minutes to the forum.
Treasurer's Report/Update – Lance
Presented the August reports. Updated with Famous Dave’s event – we ended up writing checks as Famous Dave’s sent in the prize funds. Waiting on backorder turn-in boxes. We’re okay with supplies for several events ahead. Updated Redmond and some Pendleton expenses, etc., and presented the Balance sheet. Board approved the motion to accept the August financial reports.
There was a question about the Pendleton competition final accounting. Steve to look into it.
Events Committee – Bill
Application for Sanctioning received from Saffron for Sportsmen’s show in February. DO, Salmon, and 3 meat PNWBA will be 3 meat on Friday and KCBS on Sunday. Burger and Salmon on Saturday, perhaps DO. 5k prize. Motion to approve Friday event & categories and ask for additional info on judging class.
The Redmond, Oregon event will happen in 2022. It is moving to earlier in the month and they are redesigning the comp & judging area to highlight the BBQ teams. Thinking about BBQ Judging and competition cooks class as well.
November Membership Meeting Committee- Pat
Coming together. Covid is still our enemy. Reflected in registration numbers and member conversations. Only 16 signed up for the advanced judging class and numbers are low for several events. We may not hit the required minimum to pay for the banquet room which would cost the organization more money. Eric – send a blast to the membership every few days to encourage signups.
New Business:
End of the year awards:
Eric – The latest Team of the Year calculation is normally sent out to the best 5 2-day cooks. None qualified this year so no official winner. Recommend to award based on 3 events for this year only? Combining all events was approved by the board.
Eric – competition and prize purse. $5k for total prize purse between open and championship. Expecting 7 for the championship – no category purse. $3300. $150 PNWBA would need to kick in up to $2900 for the prize purse. Board approved.
Unfinished Business/Old Business:
Jane: Still looking for nominations for:
Charlie Johnson nominee’s
Hall of Fame nominations
Announcements:
The next board meeting will be on October 27, 2021, at 6:30 pm.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was approved at 8:22 pm.
