The President called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.
Approve minutes - Steve
Motion to approve the minutes from the February 2022 meeting was approved. Steve will post the minutes to the forum for the membership.

Event Committee – Bill
New Sanctioning Applications
Snohomish Tunnel Days – asking for PNWBA helping with some funds for the event. 1 day event. Lots of other comps going on in 2022 – last year we gave $1500. No motion to approve or disapprove right now. Board agreed that we wouldn’t subsidize this event another year.
Nothing from Prosser yet. Website updated with PNWBA competition. Bill will try to contact the event for sanctioning.
Events:
Spring Fair Updates - Pat
Largest ever – 35 teams have entered – predicting 2 more BBQ teams. Merch will be for sale with new logo.
Annual meeting update – Pat
Veteran’s feed met with marketing dept and formalized the invite to us for veteran’s day. Ready to accommodate our competitions. Throw it open to public with vending 100% to teams. Week of Nov 11. Motion that we accept the tentative plan for 2022 dates and that we approve the sanctioning of our comp, approve the concept of the Nov event and continue to communicate and put together with the Clearwater
Rib rally – Dale
Have 7 teams confirmed. Dale may cook and has feelers out to others. Looking for 10 -12 total.

Suggested we start submitting the top 8, above, as recommendations for side categories to organizers.
Recruitment- discussion and brainstorming:
This was not completed since the last meeting. We’re seeking input for the Membership Committee, Steve Rubin will conduct an online survey seeking the Top Reasons why someone would want to become a PNWBA Pitmaster or why someone would want to become a PNWBA Judge. The result of this will go to the membership committee. The creation of a recruitment flyer by the Membership Committee for use online and as a handout at events.
New Business:
Event insurance – pay for all-inclusive events. Spring fair, Kalama, and Prosser. Need to have a larger conversation about insurance. Suggested that we get out of insurance business altogether, but still need for full services.
Financial reports not required to do monthly so Jane recommended that we offset to give finance committee more time before presenting to board. Board agreed to this concept.
Doug – want to propose a 1 protein event. May be able to get Coulee event back with local cooks. Table for more discussion in future.
PNWBA Merchandise will be available for sale at the Spring Fair.
The next board meeting will be phone-in meeting on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 6:30 pm.
