Registration

  • CURRENT PNWBA CBJ's - Select if you would like to be considered for a seated eating judge or be used in other volunteer areas. Seats are not guaranteed and will be assigned by the head judges either prior or at the event.
    You must be a current PNWBA certified judge to be seated.
    Judges who are KCBS certified, but not PNWBA certified may sign up, however, PNWBA judges have first priority and KCBS judges may be moved to a waiting list so that a PNWBA judge may be seated.
    If you are not a PNWBA certified judge or a KCBS certified judge, you will not be seated.
  • We need 3 table captains

    You must be a current PNWBA certified judge to be a table captain.
  • Select if you do not want to be considered for a seated eating judge and would only want to be used in other volunteer areas.

As this is a fully sanctioned traditional 4 meat PNWBA event, the inaugural THE OUTDOOR BBQ AND DUTCH OVEN COOKOFF is coming to Spokane, Washington. There is a total prize purse of $7,000.

This is a first year BBQ event in conjunction with the oldest Outdoor Adventure Exhibition in the United States. Over 300 exhibitors in the 130,000 square foot exhibit hall, showcase the latest in outdoor sports, equipment and adventures.

In addition to the 4 meat BBQ competition, there will be a Dutch Oven Dessert event, Kids Que and an Anything Butt Side Dish category featuring a spice blend provided by Inland Empire Spice. 

We need judges to also help with judging the side categories.

    Call for Judges:

    Important... You must be logged into this website with your email and password in order to access the registration for the event.
    At this time, we are planning on 3 tables, but will be adjusted based on updated team count.
    We are looking for the following:

    • 18 Judges - Judges will be selected with preference for PNWBA Certified BBQ Judges. If you are not a PNWBA CBJ but are a KCBS CBJ, then you may be placed in a volunteer position or moved to a wait list as PNWBA CBJ's are given preference.
    • 3 Table Captains - Preference will be to those certified as Table Captains.
    • 4 Volunteers - Food Runners, Meat Wranglers, and general helpers.
    Due to the fluid nature of this event, signing up does not guarantee a judging spot. Please be willing to volunteer as needed. Should there be a reduction in judges needed, an email will be sent to see if you would wish to volunteer.
    Head Judges will make the final assessment of volunteers and choose the seated judges. Tables will also be adjusted by the Head Judges at the event to try and even out the judge levels and experience.

    Saturday, March 16, 2024 - 8:45am
    Please come early to help assist with setup and so you are on site prior to the judges meeting.
    Table Captain and Volunteer meeting follows judges meeting.
    Reminder - Please refrain from wearing fragrances, colognes, powders, body sprays before coming to the event. It's important that all seated judges be able to smell the food and not other judges.

    Turn-In Schedule:

    • Anything Butt Side Dish - 9:55:00 am to 10:04:59 am
    • Pork - 10:55:00 am to 11:04:59 am
    • Brisket - 10155:00 am to 12:04:59 pm
    • Chicken - 12:55:00 pm to 1:04:59 pm
    • Pork Ribs - 1:55:00 pm to 2:04:59 pm
    • Dutch Oven - 3:00:00 pm to 3:09:59 pm
    • Kids Que - 2:30:00 pm to 2:39:59 pm
    Turn-in window is a 10 minute window.

    Awards:

    4:30 pm (or earlier when possible)
    Subject to change depending on event processing.
