Registration

  • CURRENT PNWBA CBJ's - Select if you would like to be considered for a seated eating judge or be used in other volunteer areas. Seats are not guaranteed and will be assigned by the head judges either prior or at the event.
    You must be a current PNWBA certified judge to be seated.
    Judges who are KCBS certified, but not PNWBA certified may sign up, however, PNWBA judges have first priority and KCBS judges may be moved to a waiting list so that a PNWBA judge may be seated.
    If you are not a PNWBA certified judge or a KCBS certified judge, you will not be seated.
  • We need 2 table captains

    You must be a current PNWBA certified judge to be a table captain.
  • Select if you do not want to be considered for a seated eating judge and would only want to be used in other volunteer areas.

This is a fully sanctioned traditional 4 meat PNWBA event, the second year of the WHATCOM COUNTY HOME SHOW BBQ coming to Lynden, WA. There is a total prize purse of $8,000+

This is the second year of the BBQ event in conjunction with the annual county home show in NW Washington.

Call for Judges:

We are aiming for five judging tables for this BBQ competition to make it a qualifier.  However, we will begin with two tables and adjust based upon the number of teams that sign up.  The waitlist is enabled to fill the additional positions that become available. We will keep everyone informed as we have more details.

We are looking for the following:

  • 12 Judges - Judges will be selected with preference for PNWBA Certified BBQ Judges. If you are not a PNWBA CBJ but are a KCBS CBJ, then you may be placed in a volunteer position or moved to a wait list as PNWBA CBJ's are given preference.
  • 2 Table Captains - Preference will be to those certified as Table Captains.
  • 4 Volunteers - Food Runners, Meat Wranglers, and general helpers.
  • Waitlist- Waitlist is enabled as additional positions become available.
Due to the fluid nature of this event, signing up does not guarantee a judging spot. Please be willing to volunteer as needed. Should there be a reduction in judges needed, an email will be sent to see if you would wish to volunteer.
Head Judges will make the final assessment of volunteers and choose the seated judges. Tables will also be adjusted by the Head Judges at the event to try and even out the judge levels and experience.

Please come early to help assist with setup and so you are on site prior to the judges meeting.
Table Captain and Volunteer meeting follows judges meeting.
Reminder - Please refrain from wearing fragrances, colognes, powders, body sprays before coming to the event. It's important that all seated judges be able to smell the food and not other judges.

Turn-In Schedule:

  • Chicken- 10:55:00 am to 11:04:59 am
  • Ribs- 10155:00 am to 12:04:59 pm
  • Pork- 12:55:00 pm to 1:04:59 pm
  • Brisket- 1:55:00 pm to 2:04:59 pm
Turn-in window is a 10 minute window.

Awards:

5:00 pm (or earlier when possible)
