'Anything Wine' Side Category

Team Limit - 30 Teams.

The PNWBA is proud to announce the 2025 McKinley Springs BBQ Showdown Competition coming to Prosser, WA. It's a fully sanctioned traditional 4 meat competition plus one side category of “Anything Wine.” There is a total prize purse of $10,000.

This call is for a side category called 'Anything Wine' and is in ADDITION to the 4-meat BBQ Competition. 

1. Entry fee $25
2. “Anything Wine”   Can be an appetizer, dessert, main dish, side dish.    The venue will provide the wine at the site, either red or white, cooks choice.  Ancillary category rules. See below.
   
3. This category will be judged by PNWBA judges.
4. Turn in time will be 3pm on Saturday.

"Anything Wine" Side Dish event must use the following rules:

- Incorporate the sponsor provided red or white wine into the side dish.

- Any fuel source is acceptable.

- Open garnish with sturdy entry tray/platter limited to 20"x20". No live animals, fire, or tippy (you will have to carry entry across a very crowded venue) presentations allowed. Skewers, toothpick, etc. are allowed, but must be visible. Served whole or 6 individual plated entries allowed. If served whole, utensils to cut and serve the dish must be provided at turn-in.

- Entries are not guaranteed to be served in order of arrival at the turn-in table. If your entry requires it to remain at a constant temperature (heat or cold) during the judging process, that source must be provided by you and must not interfere with showing and serving of the entry. Suggested source for heat would be hot pack or similar and suggested source for cold would be dry ice or cold pack.

In addition to this category, there is a 4 meat BBQ competition. This event will have separate registrations and entry fees.

McKinley Springs Winery is a two-day event held on June 13th and June 14th, 2025.

The BBQ competition begins on Friday June 13th, 2025, with load-in starting at 8am. On Friday June 13th, the teams and judges are all encouraged to participate in a potluck starting at 7pm, come and enjoy an evening with the PNWBA family while experiencing the serenity that rolling hills of vineyards can provide.

The McKinley Springs grounds are large enough to accommodate campers, RV's, and trailers for overnight stays.

On Saturday June 14th, our standard 4-meat + side competition begins.

Side category prize money – total $250

1^st place - $125
2^nd place -  $75
3^rd place - $50

Turn-In Schedule:

• Optional Side Category 2:55:00 pm to 3:04:59 pm
  

Turn-in window is a 10 minute window.

Registration Fee:

Team entry fee is $25.00 USD and is non-refundable. In the event of a cancellation by the event coordinator, $20.50 will be refunded from the payment made. Regardless of the situation, a designated amount of $5.00 from the entry fee is non-refundable to cover payment and event processing expenses.

Registration Payment Due:

Team entry fees must be paid at the time of registration.

Site Utilities:

• This is a NO power event, so plan accordingly. Quiet generators are perfectly fine. Make sure to bring enough fuel. It is a long drive back to a gas station.
• Potable Water - provided by venue
• Trash disposal – provided by venue
• Ash disposal – provided by venue
• Grease disposal – provided by venue
• Grey water disposal – provided by venue
• Bring extra ice!  This event has gotten quite hot in the past so come prepared with extra!
