The following are answers to frequently asked questions from the public or members.

Frequently Asked Questions - Members

When will the new system be available?

We have launched the website on Feb 6, 2020.

Why did the PNWBA choose this new system?

Our website team did several months of research and investigation and found Wild Apricot best suited our current needs and allowed us to reduce our overall costs.

Where do I go to see the new membership website?

The new system has replaced our primary website and is at https://pnwba.com

Do I use the same login as the PNWBA Forum website?

No. This is a separate system and on its own “island”, just like the forum is its own “island”. Should there become an opportunity to unify the login for both, we will explore.

Can my spouse and I share the same member account?

No. Each member must have their own account so that they can each be assigned a member number and other details.

Can my spouse and I use the same email to log in?

No. Each member’s account must have their own unique email address. This allows the ability to reset passwords and such.

I don’t remember my user name. Do we use user names with the new system?

No. The system only uses email addresses as the way to log in, not user names like “BBQGUY” or “PITMASTERBOB”.

If I change email addresses, can I change my account myself?

Yes. Log into using the previous email, then edit your profile and change the email address to the new one.

What if I changed email addresses and the system has my old one and I don’t have my password or forgot it?

Send an email to membership@pnwba.com with your information and the email address you wish to use.

What if I’m in the new system and I don’t remember or know my password?

Visit https://pnwba.com and click the LOG IN button. Click “Forgot Password” link and enter your email address. If you are in our system with that email, an email will be sent to reset your password so you can log in.

I’m a cook and have a cook team, but the system says I’m not and doesn’t show my team name.

Log in and edit your profile. Change the option for Cook to Yes and enter your team name.

The system has a spot for an Avatar / Profile Picture. I’m shy and don’t want to show my face. Do I have to?

You do not need to upload your picture. However, it does make it nice for the administrators or event organizers and head judges to be able to put a face to the name. Especially with new members.

Is the new website secure for using credit cards?

Yes. The system uses a SSL certificate, common with ecommerce stores like Amazon.

Are my credit card numbers stored on the website?

No, unless choosing the automatic renewal option for your membership, to which the underlying centralized credit card system stores the credit card number and is not accessible by PNWBA admin or board members – Only you.

I have not been involved in a PNWBA event for several years. Do I have to pay my membership still?

Your membership helps our organization to continue to grow and take care of expenses, such as the membership website. Your membership allows voting for officers and attending our annual meeting. As a member, it allows our system to send out communication via email to you as well. However, if you choose to no longer be involved, there is nothing you need to do.

Frequently Asked Questions - Judges

When will the new system be available?

We have launched the website on Feb 6, 2020.

Will signups for judging events be done with the new system?

This is still under discussion and may depend on the head judge and/or organizer for the event. For example, the Sportsman Show’s organizer chose to use their own website for judges to sign up. Please check the forum with judging announcements and it will have instructions.

I’m a CBJ and the system shows my judging level as none. What should I do?

Send an email to membership@pnwba.com with your information and what your current badge states for CBJ level. Some of the information from the old system could not be imported into the new system, which requires us to manually change this information.

I’m a Certified Table Captain and the system says I’m not. What should I do?

Send an email to membership@pnwba.com with your information and that you had taken the Table Captain class and approximately when. Some of the information from the old system could not be imported into the new system, which requires us to manually change this information.

I’m also a judge for KCBS and/or SCA. Do you want to know that and is there a spot to indicate this?

We don’t require you to indicate if you are a CBJ with KCBS or SCA, however it’s nice to know, especially with SCA, as we have a few events where PNWBA manages the BBQ portion and SCA manages the steak portion at the same event.

What if my points are wrong for judging or the competition count is wrong?

There are new fields that we are tracking. Send an email to membership@pnwba.com with your information and what you currently know you have.

I am a CBJ and at Noob status and just got my last point needed to become a Junior level judge. What do I do?

This process remains the same. Scan your signed judge sheets and email to membership@pnwba.com with your information. They will update the system and prepare a new badge.

Frequently Asked Questions – Competition Event Signups

When will the new system be available?

We are currently planning to roll out signups using the new system with the Spring Fair 2020 soon.

Yes. This is how the system can send email reminders and track that you’ve paid for the event.

Do I have to have a current membership to sign up for an event?

Unless specified, No. For example, if you are a cook from the East Coast and wish to compete in an event, you would still create an account, but joining PNWBA usually is not a requirement…. However, it is appreciated as it helps support our organization.

Do we still use Eventbrite to sign up for an event?

The goal is to move from Eventbrite to the new portal. Should an event organizer choose to manage their event registrations and payments, they may use something different.

Will we still get reminders for events we registered for, like Eventbrite?

Yes. The system gives us the capability to send out a couple reminders at different days before events. This allows us to communicate any specific changes, load in times or other important information.
