The President called the meeting held by “Go to Meeting” to order at 6:35 pm.
Discussions
Approve Minutes – Diane
Motion to approve the minutes from the December 2022 meeting was approved. Diane will post the minutes to the forum for the membership.
Financial – Lance
Lance presented the Treasurer’s Reports for December 2022. After discussion, the board approved the reports.
$6,000.00 was the amount raised at the Suquamish event in November for the Feed the Troops fund.
President’s Welcome Message:
Members of the board will need to sign the BOD Agreement. Those not attending the in-person meeting in February will receive the document in the mail from Jane.
Committee Reports:
Events
Sanctioning application for Spring Fair -Puyallup, WA – Bill S.
No major changes. There will be no Friday sampling, but there will be Saturday/Sunday sampling. Last year’s electrical and parking issues will be addressed. An additional category of “Anything Salmon” will be added this year. The Food Network will be filming during the contest for a television series.
A motion to approve sanctioning the contest was made by Lance R., and seconded by Christine J. The motion was voted on and approved.
Sanctioning application for Camp Korey Mt. Vernon, WA– Bill S.
Cooking for kids’ event, $30,000 prize purse, 30-35 teams. Some adjustment of the location of the contest at the Camp Korey site might be made.
A motion to approve sanctioning the contest was made by Christine J., and seconded by Lance R. The motion was voted on and approved.
Sanctioning application for Sutherlin, OR – Bill S.
A two-day BBQ contest to be held in conjunction with a Corn Hole Tournament and concert. $10,000 Prize purse. There will be vending opportunities for the teams.
A motion to approve the sanctioning of the contest was made and seconded, and the contest was voted on and approved.
New Business
The new “Dropped Box” procedure below was presented by Jane, and this procedure describes what the head judges are to do in the case of a dropped turn in box during a contest.
A motion was made to approve the new procedure (presented below), the motion was seconded, and the board voted to approve the new procedure.
DROPPED BOX PROCEDURE
REASONING:
- No unreasonable advantage to a team with a dropped box
- Maximum score of 194 still allows opportunity for other teams to place higher
- Eliminates confusion over a “perfect” 200 score for a dropped box

Unfinished Business/Old Business:
Karen S. is working on dates and venues for cooking and judging classes for the springtime frame.
Announcements:
Director JD McGee resigned from the board effective January 24, 2023.
The next meeting will be held in Tukwila, WA on February 25th, beginning at 9:00am and ending at approximately 4:00pm.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Bill S. at 7:31pm and seconded by Christine J. The motion was voted on and approved, and the meeting was adjourn
